Introduction

The FEED CALCULATOR program is designed for feed companies or egg or poultry producers with several sheds or sites. It is used to calculate in detail the feed requirements and delivery schedules for poultry flocks. The program co-ordinates feed deliveries depending on the number and type of flocks placed and includes a facility for wholewheat feeding.

Using the System

Customers, sites, sheds and flocks are set up on the system as are target feed intakes for the various types of poultry i.e. broilers, layers, turkeys etc. Site information stored includes the minimum and maximum feed delivery sizes and unacceptable delivery days.

Details for a flock include the number, sex and breed of birds placed, the size of the feed bin, safety factor, pre-crop delivery days, expected mortality and expected deviation from feed intake target. Details of the anticipated flock depopulation are entered along with the required feeding programme which can be based on either quantities of feed per 1000 birds or diet changes at specified ages.

Reporting

Outputs produced by the program include anticipated feed usage by a shed and calculated daily feed stocks and feed deliveries required by the flock in order to ensure efficient use of the feed bin and delivery vehicles. Site reports include a list of dates when feed deliveries will be required and also how deliveries to a multi-shed site need to be split across the sheds.

Other reports enable summaries to be produced by customer, by day and between dates.

The program allows details of actual deliveries to be input. Comparisons can then be made between actual and programmed deliveries. Delivery schedules can also be updated to account for the actual amount of feed delivered.

Data Files

All data input into Flockdata systems is stored in data files on the hard disk. Should these data files be lost, accidentally deleted or become corrupt then weeks or months of data could be lost. For this reason all Flockdata systems include data backup and restore routines.

The cost of a single-user copy of Feed Calculator is £800. A multi-user edition is also available at a price of £1200 per licence plus £100 per user. For example if a business wanted to run Feed Calculator on the company network containing 5 users they would purchase 1 multi-user licence with access for 5 users giving a total of £1700. The cost of a 12-month support agreement for your business is £150. All prices are quoted in British pounds sterling and are exclusive of VAT.
