Guest Appearances

Over the years, Newport Gym Club members have been lucky as to the number of stars from the world of gymnastics that have come into the Club to run workshops, present awards or just visiting.

In 1997 Kevin Atherton, the British Men's Senior Champion visited to present the awards at the Club Awards Night.

The following year, the legendary Olga Korbut, a star from the seventies, visited Lilleshall and met with members from Newport Club .

A star of the nineties, Annika Reeder, also came in during 1998 and ran a workshop with club members.

To round off 1998, Kathryn Peberdy, the World Tumbling Champion visited in December to present the annual awards.

In 1999 Paula Thomas ran a workshop with the junior members.

Craig Heap, the British Men's Senior Champion in 1999 came in and presented the club awards.

Darren Gerrard, British Men's Champion on floor was the visitor in December, 2000.

Beth Tweddle from City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club and Senior British Women's Artistic Gymnastics Champion dropped in to present the club awards in 2001.
